Club History

The Seekers Volleyball Club competed in Canada and in the United States from 1978 until 2003. This club was developed to meet the needs of the growing number of excellent student-athletes in the Hamilton-Wentworth area. In 2003, we stopped competing as a club but continue to run clinics and camps using our former players and other excellent coaches.

The Seekers trained from September to May each year. Our players have competed throughout Ontario, across Canada and throughout the United States, including California, Texas, Louisiana, New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin, Maryland and Illinois. Since 1978, we have won 51 Provincial Championship Medals as well as 14 National Championship Medals.

Camp History

The Seekers Summer Camp has run for 22 years, beginning with eleven campers in our first year and growing to our last year's 260 athletes. The camp has sold out the past 8 summers.

Senior Camp

As we don't have as many of our former players since so many are in full time jobs, we've decided to restrict our high school camp to those girls who were in grade nine this school year, 2008. We will amalgamate our Junior and Senior camps but our senior camp will emphasize more team play as well as the development of the individual skills necessary for success on their high school teams.

All campers will receive a Camp T-Shirt, personal and individual instruction (ratio of 1 to 6), a camp journal, daily prizes for all, craft opportunities during lunch and for the seniors, lunchtime games with the Seekers coaches. Campers will receive evaluation letters from their coaches, certificates and photos at the Friday closing ceremonies. Parents are most welcome to attend at any time.

Ages

Our coaches will be prepared to work with campers who are presently registered in grade nine down to Kindergarten. Players will be grouped by age first and then by ability. Even within each age level, we will provide activities which will benefit all players, both experienced and new-comers.

Other Information

Bring a water bottle, sun screen, knee pads, a great attitude and lots of enthusiasm!
We'll be waiting for you!

Players will be given activities according to their playing abilities and interests. Younger campers will be given more in the line of individual skills, with an appropriate net height and activity pace. The focus for older players will be on becoming a contributing member of a team, not only on the court, but off. Leadership skills will be a constant focus throughout the week.

Camp Staff

Running the Seekers Volleyball Camp will be the head coaches of the Club as well as other guest coaches during the week, including former players presently and forrmerly playing at Universities in Canada and the United States.

Our Group Coaches are former players joined by outstanding former campers. these young ladies have a wealth of experience at our clinics and former summer camps . . .
All coaches have been trained to value the individual above the skills of the individual. Although all athletes will develop dramatically in the sport of volleyball, they will also make great gains in self-concept and personal value. The concept of TEAM will be stressed daily.

All coaches will be available, especially early in the week to help any athlete with the development of a positive attitude towards themselves, their coaches and other campers.
